Lyric soprano Jessica Medoff is known for her versatility throughout all genres of music. From Bartok to Bacharach and back to Bernstein, Ms. Medoff impresses audiences throughout the United States with her style, charm and commitment to text and music. In 2010, she was awarded 1st Prize winner of the Mary Jacobs Smith Singer of the Year competition at Shreveport Opera. 

Her operatic repertoire includes the roles of Musetta in La Bohéme, Micaela in Carmen, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, The Governess in Turn of the Screw, Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow, The Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. In her young career, she has already performed with Opera New Jersey, Lake George Opera, Natchez Music Festival, Ash Lawn Opera and the Aspen Opera Theater Center. On the concert stage, she has most recently sung soprano soloist in the Fauré Requiem in Carnegie Hall, Verdi’s Requiem in New Mexico, and Ravel’s Chansons madécasses with the Luzerne Chamber Music Festival. Up next, she performs Magnolia in Showboat with Fresno Grand Opera and Marguerite in Faust with the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theater.

Recent musical theater engagements include Nancy in Oliver! and Sylviane in The Merry Widow in her Utah Opera Festival debut, The Sound of Music at Ash Lawn with Jerry Steichen conducting, “An Evening of Sondheim” at the Aspen Opera Theater Center, Aldonza in The Man of La Mancha with the Natchez Festival of Music, as well as Maria in The Sound of Music, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and Ally in Extinction: A Love Story all in New Mexico. 

As frequent guest on the POPS concert circuit, she sang at the Breckenridge Music Festival in Colorado in concerts entitled “Swinging at the Summit” and “Bacharach and Friends.” She has sung “Holiday Extravaganza” with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and an “All Bernstein” benefit with the Aspen Music Festival with David Zinman. Her original cabaret shows which feature her husband Michael Bunchman as pianist have provided opportunities to perform in several venues throughout the United States. The shows have included “Gershwin and Beyond: Celebrating Contemporary American Composers,” “Bite of the Apple” and “The Truth about Love.. and the Usual Lies.”

Ms. Medoff has worked with conductors including David Zinman, Julius Rudel, Jerry Steichen, William Boggs, Martin Katz, Steven Mosteller, Gerhardt Zimmermann, John Douglas, Kenneth Kiesler, Jeffery Sykes, Brian DeMaris, Robert Spillman and Michael Linville. She has also worked under the direction of Josh Major, John Hoomes, Ed Berkeley, Pat Diamond, David Lefkowich, Kira Simring, Mark Verzatt, Diane Garton Edie and Mark Medoff. 

In addition to her 2010 Singer of the Year award at Shreveport Opera, Ms. Medoff was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions for the Rocky Mountain Region, a winner and Audience Favorite for the Harold Haugh Competition under the auspices of the Comic Opera Guild of Ann Arbor and a finalist in the Denver Lyric Opera Competition. She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Colorado and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan.
